Knowledge and web engineering as building blocks for fact-checker support in the CIMPLE project: claim matching, argumentation pattern modeling and UX design
Speakers: Kateřina Hrudková, Kateřina Haniková, David Chudán, Filip Vencovský, Jan Větrovský, Vojtěch Svátek (FIS VŠE)
In the EU (CHIST-ERA) CIMPLE project, https://cimple.eu, devoted to AI methods for detecting and explaining misinformation in the digital space, the FIS VŠE team aims to develop tools that would assist fact-checkers in managing the growing inflow of claims to be checked. Several loosely connected preliminary results will be discussed: 1) experiments with matching smaller and larger textual documents (claims and articles) via similarity metrics and deep learning; 2) exploration of graph patterns describing the argumentation structure of fact-checking articles; 3) design of an interface the fact-checker could possibly use to access multiple functionalities developed both by the CIMPLE team and third parties. Plans for future integration of the partial components will also be laid out.
