Social Networks As a New Field for Data Mining
Speakers: Josef Šlerka
The intense growth of social networks creates new situations for many areas of humanities. According to Lev Manovich, the leading new media scholar, human sciences no longer have to choose between the size of analyzed data and its depth, eg. between quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Thanks to massive amounts of data, available via APIs, it’s possible to reconcile both of these basic approaches. This opens up new possibilities for data mining in human and social sciences, marketing research, etc. The talk will focus on practical examples from research projects from the last couple of years.
