Statistical data in RDF
Prezentující: Jindřich Mynarz
In this seminar an overview of the key datasets exposing statistical data in RDF will be given. The main part of the talk will focus on the distinct solutions that were adopted by the producers of these datasets that solve the issues one encounters in the course of modelling of statistical data in RDF. Both dataset-specific and vocabularies created with re-use in mind will be briefly described with a more detailed discussion of the evolutionary lineage within them while underscoring how they relate to each other. More attention will be given to more recent approaches, including the Data Cube and SDMX/RDF vocabularies. Besides data modelling the talk will mention the phases of publishing statistical data in RDF as linked data on the Web. This will include a few comments on the design of URI patterns for the dataset’s resources or the available publishing mechanisms and formats, along with a look what does the linked data approach solve for statistical data and what can be seen as its key contribution to the domain of statistics. The seminar will also contain a report on the author’s summer internship at the Linked Data Research Centre at DERI Galway with a brief information about the projects in which this institute is involved with respect to linked data.
