Seminář: From Ontologies to Information Extraction and Back

We will discuss the problems and challenges of using ontologies as background knowledge for information extraction, and, vice versa, using information extraction for reconstruction of ontological knowledge. We will present two use cases in this field investigated as part of two national research projects (funded by TACR and GACR). First, we will present the use of Named Entity Recognition techniques for analyzing Czech aviation safety reports. Next, we will show how to extract temporal data from the linked data cloud to reconstruct higher-level knowledge compliant with current temporal ontologies.
