Web Engineering and Library Technology
The Web Engineering and Library Technology (WELT) je jednou ze čtyř pracovních skupin na KIZI (společně vytvářejících virtuální Knowledge Engineering Group). Zaměřuje se na výuku, výzkum a standardizaci v oblastech webu a zpracování knihovnických dat.
V současné době se skupina zaměřuje na:
- rozvoj XML a WWW stadardů,
- zavádění nových, zejména webových technologií do knihovnictví,
- ergonomii webových aplikací,
- analýzu vlastností rozdílných formátů reprezentace dat na webu.

- 30 April 2020: Stanislav Vojíř successfully completed the project on Development of ODA statistical reporting methods in line with OECD DAC methodology, funded by TA CR. The project produced a web-based software tool for statistical reporting of the official development aid, and a methodology, both to be used by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- February 2020: A paper on the Software Ergonomics Testing Platform, co-authored by Jiří Hradil and Vilém Sklenák, appeared in a printed issue of Springer’s Cognition, Technology & Work journal (IF >1.2)
- 13-15 February 2020: The annual international XML Prague conference was held with Jirka Kosek as PC Chair.
- 9 January 2019: Jiří Hradil successfully defended his PhD thesis „Software ergonomics and trends of long-term sustainability of user interface“ (in Czech, Ergonomie software a trendy dlouhodobé udržitelnosti uživatelského rozhraní“). Congratulations!
- 1 November 2018: Stanislav Vojíř succeeded in obtaining a 14-month grant project from the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic.
- February 2018: The annual international XML Prague conference has been held on February 8-10, 2018, with Jirka Kosek as PC Chair.
- November 2017: J. Hradil presented a paper on Identification and Origin of User Interfaces at the ITAT conference in Slovakia.
- November 2015: The book on „Big data and NoSQL databases“ (in Czech), co-authored by Jirka Kosek, eventually appeared.
- June 2015: Jiří Hradil defended his PhD project progress on „Software ergonomics and trends of long-term sustainability of user interface“ (after first year).
- February 2015: The annual international XML Prague conference has been held on February 13-15, 2015, with Jirka Kosek as PC Chair.
- September 2014: Two new PhD students enrolled and joined the group (both with V. Sklenák as Advisor): Jiří Hradil and Daniel Vodňanský. Jiří will focus on web application ergonomics and Daniel on information-theoretic properties of various web data representations. Note: for the sake of better topic match, Daniel later moved under another advisor, Jiří Ivánek, and is now mainly active in the IIS group.
- June 2014: Dušan Broďáni successfully defended his early PhD project (after first year): “Methodology for introducing the RFID technology to libraries”.
