Translations between Ontologies in Multi-Agent Systems

Prezentující: Marek Obitko

For communication between agents it is necessary that agents understand the messages that they exchange. The meaning of messages is partially captured in an ontology. However, in open multi-agent systems it is possible that agents use different ontologies for expressing their messages. In this talk, the advantages of usage of semantic web technologies for FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) based agents will be discussed with the focus on multi-agent systems used in manufacturing domain. Three possibilities of translation between OWL ontologies will be shown and illustrated on transportation domain, including the discussion of embedding the translation into multi-agent system. The application of semantic search in manufacturing domain will be briefly discussed as well.
